Ten years in, GUTS is all grown up. This friendly pumpkin carving competition was organized and created in 2008 by CRAFTED, a marketing agency in Charlotte, NC. But what began as an internal team-building event at the agency has grown into a community-wide effort, one that attracts the finest creative talent in the area and generous support from both our sponsors and patrons. The primary goal of this event is to unify the creative community in support of the kids who fight the real fight every day at Make-A-Wish.
As we enter our 10th Annual GUTS competition, the evolution of the local event is obvious: the first GUTS venue was a small, nondescript parking lot on the edge of uptown Charlotte, while today it takes place down the street at the illustrious BB&T Ballpark. More importantly, we've also seen our list of carvers and attendees grow each year, which means we've been able, with your help, to raise more money for our cause. The event is also spreading slowly across the country: with the help of AIGA Charlotte, we've been able to take the event national with GUTS events in over 10 cities across the country.
GUTS is open to local and regional creative professionals who want to test their pumpkin carving skills for the sake of raising money for the brave kids of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Money is raised through ticket sales, carver registration fees, sales of creatively carved pumpkins, food, drink, and merchandise sold at the event. And, for those who can't make it or would like to do a little extra, we invite anyone, anywhere, to help make a wish come true by donating here.
