Marina's Wish: "I wish to swim with dolphins"
Granted By: GUTS 2014

Life for seven-year-old Marina hasn't always been easy. Being born with Cystic Fibrosis, a respiratory condition that causes severe damage to the lungs and digestive system, Marina has spent much of her time in the hospital enduring treatments and missing days of school and playtime with her friends. Her loving and supportive family was excited to see her get her one true wish granted.

Being the animal-lover she is, Marina opted for the opportunity to go to Discovery Cove and swim with dolphins. Her family was flown to Florida for the full Orlando theme-park experience, including day-passes to Disney World®. Her wish started with a full day at Disney, where she was able to meet the of her favorite princesses. Marina's wish happened around Halloween, so she and her family were invited to attend Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party! Because of her condition, she never had the opportunity to go trick-or-treating before.

When wish families travel to Orlando, they stay at the Give Kids the World® resort. This candy-landesque wonderland is an experience in itself. Building look like gingerbread houses, giant gumdrops and candy canes decorate the landscape, and they even serve ice-cream 24 hours a day! The next day Marina swam with dolphins, fish, and stingrays. She got her own personal dolphin named CJ for an hour of one-on-one training after exploring the coral reefs. The whole trip and experience really helped bring a smile back to her face!
