Franklin's Wish: "I wish to go to the set of the Hobbit"
Granted By: GUTS 2015

Wish kid Franklin has many fond memories of watching his favorite movies "The Hobbit" and "Lord of the Rings" with his family. During Franklin's long hours spent in treatments, he always found comfort looking at the incredible scenery in the movies and longed for days outside of his hospital walls. When thinking of his wish, he was inspired by the movies and wanted more than anything to see where they were made. When talking about his wish, Franklin said, "The reason this is so important to me is because, during all the sickness, these movies helped bring our family together."

Franklin and his family packed their bags and took off for an adventure of a lifetime. Their first stop was Matamata where they had the chance to explore the picturesque farmland of the Hobbiton Movie Set from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies. During a tour of the set, they got to see Hobbit Holes, The Green Dragon Inn, The Mill, the double arched bridge and other structures and gardens built for the films. After a night resting up at the Hobbit Hole Motel, the family was off to their next adventure: the Hairy Feet Tour. During the tour, the family saw limestone cliffs, rock formations and beautiful native forest featured in the troll and campfire scenes in the Hobbit and Radagast's rabbit sleigh run. Next it was time for the scenic drive to Wellington for a tour with Flat Earth where the family experienced film locations used around the town. During their trip, they also got to relax and just enjoy the beautiful scenery around them.

Franklin and his family returned from his wish trip with memories to last a lifetime and photos to cherish for years to come. Now whenever they watch the movies, they are reminded of the incredible trip they had together.
