Ashlyn's Wish: "I wish to go to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC"
Granted By: GUTS 2015

Like many young girls, sweet and humble wish kid Ashlyn loves Taylor Swift, watching movies and spending time with her family. Unlike many teenagers, Ashlyn has leukemia, a cancer of blood-forming tissues which requires her to spend much of her time in treatments and doctor's appointments. When thinking of her wish, Ashlyn dreamed of experiencing all the fun that New York City has to offer and wanted to be treated like royalty with a limo ride, fancy dinners and red carpets. When Ashlyn found out her wish was approved, she knew she wanted to spend it seeing the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC.

When Ashlyn's wish trip began, she had a smile on her face from ear to ear. Ashlyn and her family had a perfect view of the parade and loved watching the performers. Some of her favorite floats were Snoopy, the Kool-Aid man and "Adventure Time" characters. After all the parade excitement, the family enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving dinner at Rock Center Café. While in NYC, Ashlyn and her family also got to do plenty of sight-seeing and visited the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and even saw Wicked on Broadway.

Throughout her entire trip, Ashlyn's dad mentioned that her smile never faltered, which was an incredible thing to see since it was the first time he had seen her smile in over a year and a half. Ashlyn's wish trip was a chance for the family to celebrate and enjoy the holiday season without the stresses of doctor appointments and treatments. They took photos to cherish for years to come and made memories that they will never forget.
